Task Seven

Many things are happening around us which are very dangerous for us and for our air; one of these and the most important one is global warming. Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century and its projected continuation. So we have to find what the main problem is, and how to find a solution for it. Studies said that CO2 keeps the sun heating inside the planet which increases the earth temperature, and with that increasing the global warming comes. So we have find the fastest solution for it, and if we don’t do it we will see many other problems will come in future.

Problem
One of these problems is our lifestyle and what we do every day which is raising the temperature. I measured my carbon footprint in http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ and it was 3.45. I think my carbon footprint is near to the average of the people in the UAE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming. So as we can see that my average is a normal one comparing to others; I think the main reason for it is we are in a desert climate and we need air-conditioners to cool ourselves, and also we burned a lot of fossil fuel which increases the percentage of the carbon. Another problem is the ice melting and the sea level has increased, and this increasing will affect some islands around the world.

Solution

First, when we know that we make it, so we have to work together to finding solutions, and also we have to educate the people that our health and air are more important than money and business, so losing money is not very important compared to air with a high percentage of carbon. Also recycling is a good way to reduce the carbon and the effect of global warming because with it we will save a lot of energy needed to make new materials. Cool City

There is a project which is held by the SDCJ which is a union of 11 Japanese companies. They will go to build a big city that has clear air with all things we want. I watched a video about this project with our teacher. This project is called Cool City. Now I will write about the video which describe a lot of about the project.

First the aim of this project is to reduce the carbon emissions which are still rocketing since the Earth has changed. According to the movie we saw that we need to reduce about 50% of CO2 emissions. Also it shows us that 90% of CO2 comes from transportation and buildings and the project will reduce it by using natural resources, like using hybrid cars and solar ships. The city includes of 6 parts which are business zone, sport zone, residential zone, solar power, plant farms and resort zone.

In my opinion, the Cool city will change a lot in our country because we will live in a healthy environment and also it will help people to get a natural life and enjoy nice atmospheric air. Finally it will help us to use energy without any pollution.

Suicide in China

Summary
The writer is talking about the suicide in China for people who get problems. As a result the women are committing suicide more than men in China.

From the writer we see that this habit happens in rural areas where we find many social problems. There you can find many problems and fights between both spouses which leads to women committing suicide. Some say that the tradition is one reason of this problem when wives think that when they suicide they will find an escape. Another reason is the availability of poisons in agricultural areas. The marriage problems are the most important reason for Chinese woman to commit suicide.

Finally the solution of that is getting provided some subject such as cooking, information about marriage and warning of suicide. Another solution is that women go to other countries and work; there they will get experience of life and not commit suicide.

Main Idea
The numbers of women who are committing suicide in China are increasing and government has to decide to stop suicide in their countries.

CommentIn my opinion, governments should get the solutions of what the writer wrote about as soon as they can, and the government should assume full responsibility of this problem.

My carbon footprint

I measured my carbon footprint in http://footprint.wwf.org.uk and it was 4.36.

Carbon footprint is a way to understand and know what is the global warming. It is also a way to measure how our actions add to climate change with accurate results about what you do; also with it you can measure the amount of greenhouse gases that you emit. Such as, the amount of CO2 is emitted got from the things that we use it in our daily life. There are many ways to calculate our amount of carbon and one of them is that website. However, you can also calculate it by the use of fossil fuel for energy. A person’s carbon footprint can be calculated by the amount of energy that we use in our home and outside also. With these factors, anyone can reduce his greenhouse gas emissions by refraining from a few habits in his lifestyle. I think that my driving car hours make my rate higher, so I will work to reduce the hours of my driving.

Task Four

Al Gore is correct about his presentation, and it is running very well; also he has perfect acting. No one can say that he was really acting because he talks from his heart but he wants to convince us with the global warming issue that many people are not aware of it. The movie has made us very serious about the global warming and about our future if we don’t find a solution for it. Also the movie shows us many pictures of where he traveled to make us know that he is interested in the global warming and he wants to say that he really wants to go anywhere to see the situation with his own eyes. That’s what Brandon says about the movie.

That there are two points that he disagrees with; the first one is that Gore starting joking about Bush and the Republicans, and that not good for a scientific presentation; the presentation must be very serious without any joking. The second one is that he talks about his sister when he lost her from lung cancer and that was not relevant to the issue. Those were the points from Scott. At the end, I don’t have any bad comment about this movie and I think it’s fine if he makes some jokes so the audiences don’t get bored.

My opinion about the movie
The movie was very interesting for me and it includes much information that makes us aware of what the future will be for our earth if we don’t stop global warming.
